I just moved to a new house, and not unexpectedly, it threw my whole “practical home management” groove way out of whack. There are many things I still can’t find, I am getting used to the new places where everything goes, and there are boxes upon boxes yet to be unpacked. However, I did implement one extraordinarily helpful tactic which I’d like to share with you for anyone who finds themselves moving sometime in the future, namely: all the things that I knew I would need right away I packed in a suitcase and brought it with me. WOW! What a help that was! Now, certainly there were certain items I forgot, or learned only after the fact that I should have included them (hand towels is the first that comes to mind), but nonetheless I think I saved myself an awful lot of trouble by doing this. So, without further ado, here is my list of things to keep close by when moving:

Clothes for two days
Toothbrush & toothpaste
Soap & shampoo
Bath towels/bathrobes
Hand towels
Tissues & toilet paper
Nail clippers
Razor
Advil
Daily vitamins/medications
Cell phone, iPad & charging wires
Pen & paper
A few plastic bags for trash
